Question about Diffie Hellman algorithm

I notice on Wikipedia here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffie...n_key_exchange where it says that P is prime and Q is the "primitive root". What I'm wondering is this. Are all prime numbers primitive roots? Or do only some prime numbers have the "primitive root" property? And are there some non-prime numbers that are still primitive roots?
